Why Phoenix Homeowners Choose Caribbean Pools
We Know Phoenix’s Unique Build Conditions
Phoenix isn’t a typical build environment. Caliche hardpan, clay soil shifts, high UV exposure, and extreme summer heat all affect how a pool needs to be engineered and finished. We’ve built hundreds of pools in the Valley — from hard-dig lots in North Phoenix to tight backyards in Ahwatukee — and we factor local conditions into every design and quote upfront, not as surprises after excavation starts.
ROC-Licensed, Fully Permitted Every Time
Caribbean Pools is licensed by the Arizona Registrar of Contractors (ROC #325789 B-04). We pull every permit ourselves — pool, fencing, electrical, and gas if applicable. We handle all city inspector coordination so you don’t have to. Your pool is built legally, by the book, every time.
Line-Item Pricing — No Package Guessing
We don’t sell packages. Every pool is priced from a detailed line-item sheet with hundreds of options — so you pay for exactly what you want and nothing you don’t. Your quote shows every item individually: pool shell, interior finish, decking, water features, equipment, and permit fees. No hidden charges, no upgrade surprises mid-build.
One Team, Start to Finish
From your first design meeting to the day we commission your equipment and hand you the operation walkthrough, you work with the same Caribbean Pools team. Your salesperson stays involved. Your project manager stays reachable.

The Phoenix Pool Building Process — What to Expect
1. Free Design Consultation
We meet at your home, walk your yard, talk through goals and budget. No pressure, no commitment. You’ll leave with a clear sense of what’s possible and an honest cost framework. Most consultations take 60–90 minutes.
2. Design + Quote
We produce a custom design and a detailed line-item quote with every option priced individually. You see exactly what you’re paying for. Revisions are free until you’re satisfied.
3. Contract + Permit Submittal
Once you sign, we collect a 30% down payment and immediately submit for permits. City of Phoenix permits currently run about 3–4 weeks. Most East Valley cities (Gilbert, Mesa, Chandler) are similar or faster. We handle every application, inspector coordination, and fee — with permit costs passed through to you at cost, no markup.
4. Excavation + Steel
Dig the pool shell, set the rebar cage, schedule the inspection.
5. Shotcrete
The structural concrete shell goes in. After this point, the pool shape is fixed.
6. Plumbing, Electrical, Equipment
Pipes, conduit, equipment pad, gas lines, and anything that goes behind walls or under decking.
7. Hardscape + Decking
Pavers, travertine, concrete — whatever you chose. Coping is set, water features get tiled, fencing gets installed if it’s in your scope.
8. Interior Finish, Fill, Final Inspection
Plaster or pebble finish gets applied, the pool is filled, equipment commissioned, water chemistry balanced, and we walk you through operation. Final inspection signs off your permit, and the pool is yours.
Total timeline: typically 3–5 months from contract signing to completion in the Phoenix area. Permit timing is the biggest variable.
Pool Features Popular with Phoenix Homeowners
Heat + Cool Pumps for Arizona Summers
When air temps hit 115°F in July, pool water temperatures can climb to 90°F+ without intervention — more like a warm bath than a cool escape. We install heat-and-cool pumps that can either warm your pool in winter or chill it in summer, so your pool stays usable year-round.
Shade Structures + Ramadas
Phoenix’s UV index sits at 11+ for half the year. A pergola, shade sail, or full ramada extends the time your family actually uses the backyard from a few hours to all day. We design shade integration into the original site plan, not as an afterthought.
Fire Features for Arizona Winters
Phoenix winter nights drop into the 40s. Fire bowls, fire pits, and gas-fed water-fire features turn a pool deck into a year-round gathering space. Most can be added to the original build for far less than retrofitting later.
Desert-Smart Decking + Landscaping Integration
Travertine and natural stone stay cooler than concrete or pavers in direct sun. We coordinate decking specs with desert-tolerant landscaping (artificial turf, agave, desert spoon, palo verde) so your backyard is finished, not just a pool surrounded by dirt.
Smart Pool Automation
Control your pool from your phone — temperature, lights, water features, cleaning schedule, even chemistry. We install Hayward equipment exclusively, including the Hayward OmniLogic smart automation platform.
What Does a Pool Cost in Phoenix?
Honest answer: it depends. Caribbean Pools builds custom inground pools at every level, from straightforward starter pools to fully integrated resort-style backyards. The biggest cost drivers are pool size and shape, decking material and square footage, water features (sheer descents, scuppers, fire bowls), equipment package (heating, automation, lighting), and lot conditions (caliche, slope, access).
Instead of pretending we can quote a pool from a webpage, we publish honest package pricing and customization ranges on our pricing page.

Frequently Asked Questions — Phoenix Pool Building
How long does it take to build a pool in Phoenix?
Most Phoenix builds run 3–5 months from contract signing to completion. The biggest variable is permit timing — currently about 3–4 weeks in the City of Phoenix. East Valley cities are often faster.
Do you handle Phoenix pool permits?
Yes. We handle every permit application, inspector coordination, and fee. Permit costs are passed through to you at cost — we don’t mark them up.
What about my HOA?
Many Phoenix-area communities — especially Desert Ridge, Ahwatukee, Norterra, and DC Ranch — require HOA architectural review. We provide the plans, drawings, and specifications you need to submit. Approval timelines vary by HOA; we recommend starting your HOA submission alongside your design consultation so the timelines run in parallel.
Do I need a pool fence?
Not necessarily. Phoenix code requires a barrier between your pool and any access — but a fence is just one option. You can also meet code with self-closing, self-latching doors on any house door that opens to the pool area, with the latch handle mounted at least 54 inches above the floor (out of small-child reach). We design the right barrier solution for your yard and include it as a line item in your quote so you see exactly what you’re paying for.
When is the best time to build a pool in Phoenix?
Honestly, anytime. Phoenix’s climate lets us build year-round. The most common strategy: sign in fall or winter so your pool is ready for the start of swim season in March or April. Summer builds happen too — it just means our crews are working in 110°F heat.
Can I get my pool heated and cooled?
Yes. Heat-and-cool pumps are increasingly popular in Phoenix because they let you actually use your pool in July when water temps would otherwise climb to 90°F+. We can spec one with your equipment package.
Do you build in Cave Creek and Carefree?
Yes. We regularly build in both. Permits in those areas can take a bit longer than in Phoenix proper, but we handle the entire process.
What if my yard has caliche or rock?
Hard-dig conditions are common in North Phoenix, Sunnyslope, and parts of Cave Creek. We bid hard-dig as a separate line item — we cannot reliably estimate it from a photo. After we walk your yard, we’ll give you an honest assessment.
Can I make changes during construction?
Changes before permit submission or excavation are usually easy. Changes after shotcrete are limited because the pool shape is then fixed. We always recommend finalizing design choices before excavation — your project manager will walk you through every decision point.
What financing options are available?
We work with several pool financing partners that specialize in inground pool loans — typically 15–20 year terms with rates significantly better than home equity in many cases. See our financing page for current partners and terms.
